OAKHURST–The California Highway Patrol in conjunction with VFW Post #8743 is offering the second of two senior driving classes, called Age Well, Drive Smart, on Saturday February 5th. a few slots remain for registrations. To get your name on the list, contact VFW Station Commander Maryann Enciso at 559/676-6848. The course is free, but reservations must be made by Wednesday, February 2, so time is running out.

The overall goal of the Age Well, Drive Smart program is to reduce the number of fatal and injury crashes caused by drivers aged 65 and over. The program focuses on safe driving practices and California driving laws.

The program also addresses the physical and mental changes associated with aging that can affect a person’s driving skills, while offering possible corrective options.

“As we age, we gain valuable experience, including driving skills. However, age can also introduce new challenges,” said CHP Commissioner Warren Stanley. to help California’s most experienced drivers assess and improve their own abilities.”
