YEADON, PA – Delaware County has partnered with a local healthcare provider to open a new coronavirus testing site, offering rapid walk-in and drive-through COVID-19 testing.

The new site is located in the parking lot of the Delaware County Wellness Center in Yeadon, 125 Chester Ave. at Yeadon.

Tests are available from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Tests will not be available on Thursdays and Sundays.

COVID-19 testing appointments at the Delaware County Wellness Center in Yeadon are not required, but are strongly suggested. Schedule an online test here.

COVID-19 vaccines are also available for Delaware County residents at the Wellness Center. Go online here for up-to-date information on vaccination clinic hours.

The site is operated in conjunction with Springfield-based Personic Health Care.

The county opened the Yeadon County Delaware Wellness Center in Yeadon in January 2021, converting a closed supermarket into a center offering a variety of public health services.

The building is now one of several locations that house the new Delaware County Health Department, established April 2.

“Unfortunately, our community has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases over the past month and the need for testing has increased again,” said Delaware County Board Chairwoman Dr. Monica Taylor. “Tests and vaccines are the most important tools we have to slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep our loved ones and community safe and this new site, opened in partnership with Personic Health Care, will help provide equitable access to COVID-19 testing for our residents.”

The new site, which will be operated at no cost to the county, is part of a larger county effort to address health disparities exacerbated by the pandemic by providing convenient, free testing to communities of color and families. workers who are more likely to contract COVID-19, more likely to suffer from chronic illnesses that can be made worse by COVID-19, and who have less access to testing and other health services.

“We are proud to partner with the Delaware County Department of Health to provide convenient, quality care to Delaware County residents,” said Dr. Azmat Husain of Personic Health Care. “Since the start of the pandemic, we have served thousands of patients in Delaware County and throughout our region. This new partnership fits perfectly with our mission to expand access to care in underserved communities and will ensure residents of Yeadon and across the county receive the testing services that are critical to curbing the spread of the virus while ensuring the safety of their families. »

The new Delaware County Wellness Center testing site will provide access to both rapid on-site antigen testing, with results available in just 15 minutes, as well as RT-PCR testing, the gold standard in matter of COVID testing.

Because Personic operates its own lab, PCR results will be available by email in less than 24 hours.

This is Personic’s second partnership with Delaware County.

Personic operated a drive-through testing site at a Sharon Hill County-owned facility during the height of the pandemic earlier in the year.

And it’s part of a larger Personic effort to expand access to care in underserved communities.

In addition to this new site, Personic is offering free testing services in North Philadelphia through a partnership with Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children.
