MISSOULA, Mont. – Starting tomorrow, Montanese will be able to order free at-home COVID tests from the state government.

The Missoula Emergency Management Office is hosting a drive-in event for families to pick up one of 26,00 home rapid antigen test kits reserved only for Missoula County residents.

Starting tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Fort Missoula Regional Park. Residents can pick up their own COVID test kits, which officials say many people have struggled to find in recent weeks.

“The high number of cases we are seeing in our community, we know that not everyone has access to a test, whether they are trying to schedule a pcr test, a traditional doctors office or the health department , or trying to find them at home testing, and so we’re really trying to get those tests out into the community as quickly as possible,” said Adriane Beck, director of the Missoula Emergency Management Office.

From tomorrow, each household can choose a test kit containing 2 tests inside.

City officials say these tests could not have come at a better time to meet the increased demand for COVID tests right now.

“It gives you options to self-monitor for symptoms as soon as those symptoms develop, to be able to test and know you have COVID so you can start self-isolating much faster than having to go out and going around stores trying to find a COVID test,” Beck said.

Emergency management says there will be signage to direct drivers where to pick up your free tests. You are also asked to stay in your car for everyone’s safety.

For those who don’t live in Missoula, more test kit distribution sites are expected to be set up by the state in the coming weeks — even if you live in one of the least populated areas of the country. Montana.
