One of the tastiest annual fundraisers in the South Okanagan is now a spring event.

The local United Way branch has announced that the 10th Annual South Okanagan Drive-In Breakfast is scheduled for Wednesday, March 2, from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. outside the Penticton Lakeside Resort.

In exchange for a donation, attendees will receive a hot breakfast, coffee and Tim Horton’s Timbits, a breakfast bag filled with delicious treats and other goodies, coupons and the chance to win big prizes worth up to $1,750 from local businesses and attractions. All provincial health and safety protocols related to the ongoing pandemic will be followed.

“Penticton Lakeside Resort is proud to host this fantastic event that brings our community together for the 10th consecutive time. We are grateful to be a part of it,” Elizabeth Cucnik, the station’s general manager, said in a press release.

“Thank you to everyone who continues to support our community through this event – from all the amazing local businesses and volunteers to the members of the general public who show up each year.”

All proceeds raised from the event will be plowed back into the community to strengthen vital ties through local charities and programs supporting food security initiatives from Summerland to Osoyoos.

Previous editions of the event have usually taken place in October.
