FORT NELSON, BC — On Thursday morning, the Northern Rockies RCMP received a call about a possible armed robbery at a local business.

According to Sergeant Chris Manseau, the company said an unknown person walked through the drive-thru with a shotgun before leaving the scene.

The police responded to the call and, during their search, recovered the firearm from where the suspect had stored it.

A little over an hour after the start of the search, the police managed to apprehend the suspect.

Manseau says the suspect was known in the area, so it was easy to identify and track him.

He adds that some schools were closed as a precaution, but they were quickly released from this lockdown once it was confirmed to be safe.

As of Thursday, a Fort Nelson man was in custody in connection with the incident.
