The Lac du Bonnet RCMP are hitting the trails this weekend – Press release February 11, 2022
On February 12, 2022, the Lac du Bonnet RCMP will conduct a snowmobile patrol in the Lac du Bonnet and Pinawa areas. Officers will be on snowmobiles to ensure safe behavior.
“In most cases, we expect people to just enjoy the trails and the frozen lakes,” said Staff Sergeant Cory Meyers, RCMP Lac Du Bonnet Detachment Commander. “However, we will be there to make sure people are using their machines safely and that drivers are sober. We want everyone to have a good time, and we also want to make sure everyone goes home safe at the end of the day.
The RCMP has some tips to make your trip safe and enjoyable:
· Always check the weather conditions before you go
· Never ride alone
· Let someone know where you are going, the route you plan to take and your expected return time
· Always wear protective clothing, including a helmet, gloves and goggles
Know your limits – only ride at a speed that allows you and your riding partners to maintain full control of your sled
· Drive sober. Drinking and riding a snowmobile don’t mix. Don’t drink or drive and don’t tolerate others who do
See you there!
