PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A man who robbed a North Philadelphia McDonald’s is still at large.

Surveillance video shows the armed suspect reaching inside the restaurant’s drive-thru window on the 4100 block of Whitaker Avenue at 3:25 a.m. on November 4.

He asked an employee for money, then took out the entire cash register.

“It’s scary for the workers, they’re just trying to finish their shift and an honest day at work and unfortunately we have bad people there,” said East Detectives Captain Matthew James.

The suspect drove off in a red SUV with three other people inside.

Customers say they have compassion for employees and fear for themselves.

“It would have been terrible for all of us to be trapped,” said James McNeil of Olney.

“It’s terrifying, you have young children working in there. It’s very scary to have to deal with this while you’re at work,” said Shante Lewis of West Oak Lane.

In a statement, McDonald’s franchisee Ken Youngblood said: “Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our customers and restaurant employees and we are cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation into Classes.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS.
