Philippine Red Cross (PRC) staff and volunteers have supported immunizations for a total of 740 people at the government’s Bakuna Drive-thru Center Athletic Bowl in Baguio City every Wednesday since it opened on November 8.
The PRC said it was supporting Bakuna centers run by local government units (LGUs) in many parts of the country to help curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
âAs the Red Cross continues to give hope to the most vulnerable, we are making sure we go the extra mile to reach especially the most vulnerable. We want people to feel safe and protected from COVID-19, âsaid PRC Chief Executive Officer Senator Dick Gordon.
On the other hand, PRC said that volunteers and staff have also been deployed to the Bureau of Prison Management and Penology (BJMP) in the city of Baguio to vaccinate 35 persons deprived of liberty (PDL). Other areas include the Bakuna Center at the Baguio Country Club which vaccinated 24 people, and the Baguio Health Services Office (HSO) satellite at Session Road which vaccinated 113 people.
According to the PRC Baguio chapter vaccination team, they have now vaccinated 839 people and helped the local government vaccinate more than 900 people. In addition, the PRC will also help support another Bakuna Center on Sunday November 21 located in Malcolm Square (People’s Park) Baguio City.
