A total of 15 new jobs have been created at the first Drive Thru Starbucks store in Plymouth, which opened for the first time.

The store at Coypool Retail Park in Plympton and operated by Starbucks licensee Cobra Coffee opened at 6.30am on Wednesday January 19.

And to celebrate the opening, the store will be giving away 50 lucky customers free reusable cups every day for the first week.

Starbucks is also offering a 25p discount to all customers who bring a reusable cup when purchasing a drink.

The new store will be open 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Store Manager Emma Swain, who started her career at Starbucks as a barista in 2014, said: “After eight years at Starbucks, I can’t wait to open Plymouth’s first Starbucks Drive Thru.

“The team will continue to closely follow the latest guidance from government and health authorities to keep everyone safe. We are all looking forward to welcoming many new faces to the new store.”

Only hours to go until the city’s newest Starbucks cafe opens at Coypool Retail Park off Plymouth Road in Plympton

The Drive Thru store comes with indoor seating. Or, for those who prefer to stay home, delivery will be fully available within a month of opening to all customers through Uber Eats.

Cobra Coffee, which already runs the nearby store in Drakes Circus, Plymouth, is part of an independent co-operative based in the south of England.

The cafe chain had its planning application for the Plymouth Road cafe in Plympton approved by Plymouth councilors in 2019, despite concerns over its impact on local traffic.

The city council’s planning committee voted in favor of the project by seven votes to six. The conditions include a management plan to monitor parking, queuing and any impact on traffic on Plymouth Road.
