Kids can wear their costumes and enjoy the Trunk or Treat Halloween Drive-Through Safety Event on Tuesday October 26th sponsored by the Rutherford County Road Safety Task Force.

The Halloween event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Samsonite Boulevard across from the Tennessee Driver’s License Station in Murfreesboro.

Firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement and the Tennessee Department of Transportation will have fire trucks, an ambulance, police cars and two Help Trucks on display.

First responders will distribute candy to children in each vehicle. Parents and kids can vote for their favorite decorated pumpkin.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Brenna Smith, who coordinated the event, said the Halloween drive-thru is a safe way for parents and kids to enjoy the Halloween festivities.

“This trunk or treat is unlike any other because kids can enjoy the Halloween festivities and interact with multiple first responder agencies in a positive and safe environment,” Smith said. “Parents can participate and each agency will have information brochures to share with the sweets.

“I am personally delighted to meet and speak with members of our community while attending my favorite Halloween party,” said Smith.

THP Lt. Jon Officer reminded drivers to pay special attention to children during Halloween events.

“Watch out for children coming out of traps or treatments,” the officer said.
